Mahoning Valley Sojourn to the Past, founded in 2007, based in Youngstown, OH, takes high school students on a leadership development and history immersion journey to Civil Rights sites in the South. Students meet leaders of the Movement and learn lessons of social and racial justice, nonviolence, civic responsibility. The goal is to incorporate these lessons into their lives to become ambassadors of nonviolence and leaders for social and racial justice.
Mission
Mahoning Valley Sojourn to the Past enables individuals to participate in educational activities that encourage personal growth and motivate them to take action against injustice today. They immerse students in history to develop leadership and inspire change.
