About
The Monroe County School Music Association, founded in 1997, fosters an interest in music among students in Monroe County schools. They organize music education festivals for over 2300 students, who perform solo or ensemble pieces and receive evaluations that contribute to All-County selections. They also conduct festivals for approximately 1200 students, providing them with the opportunity to rehearse and perform under guest conductors.
Mission
MCSMA is a cooperative non-profit, volunteer run organization supporting music teachers in Monroe County. They sponsor solo and ensemble festivals to enhance the school music experience for outstanding and committed student-musicians, enabling them to bring lessons learned back to their home communities and positively influence their district-wide music program.
