The New York State Reading Association (NYSRA), founded in 2018, is a volunteer organization dedicated to literacy. Affiliated with the International Literacy Association, NYSRA promotes a literate, democratic society valuing lifelong learning for diverse cultures. It supports local reading councils, promotes reading/literacy among educators, and advocates for reading/literacy before governmental bodies.
Mission
The New York State Reading Association empowers educators, inspires students, encourages leaders, and supports activities concerned with improving reading/literacy programs to make literacy accessible for all.
