Local 1000, the Traveling Musicians Union, unites and organizes professional touring acoustic musicians. Chartered by the American Federation of Musicians (AFM), it represents musicians who perform outside their home jurisdiction, including folk, bluegrass, blues, performance poets, and sign language interpreters. The union provides a strong network, access to benefits, and aims to improve the welfare of traveling musicians.
