Junior Optimist International (JOI)
Provides opportunities for young people to develop leadership skills and make a difference through community service projects and fun events.
Optimists Working for Learning Success (OWLS)
Supports elementary school students by providing resources like nutrition, clothing, school supplies, and tutoring assistance through partnerships with local schools.
Junior Golf Program
Offers a unique golf program for ages 10-18, including tournaments and championships to foster skills and sportsmanship.
Essay Contest
Provides a platform for young people to express their opinions about the world through essay writing, enhancing critical thinking and writing skills.
Oratorical Contest
Gives youngsters the chance to hone public speaking skills, improve self-expression, and gain self-assurance through a speech competition.
Communication Contest for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing
Offers hearing-impaired youth a chance to present their thoughts in a public forum, patterned after the Oratorical Contest.

Founded in 1919, Optimist International is a volunteer organization that values all children and helps them develop to their full potential. With a mission to bring out the best in youth, communities, and ourselves by providing hope and a positive vision, Optimists engage in community service programs. Starting with the motto “Friend of the Delinquent Boy”, it evolved to “Friend of Youth” and now includes programs like the Oratorical Contest, Junior Golf Championships, and Childhood Cancer Campaign.
