About
Founded in 1865 as “Forestville” by the Methodist Church, Plainville Camp Grounds became a religious and social hub, hosting thousands. Featuring Carpenter Gothic cottages, it drew people for revivals, lectures, and community. In 1957, the Plainville Camp Grounds Association, Inc. acquired the grounds, restoring it into a seasonal residential community. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, it maintains a non-denominational chapel with summer services.
