About
PlayMakers Laboratory, formerly Barrel of Monkeys, founded in 1997, brings the creative voices of Chicago students to life. Through writing workshops in underserved schools and after-school programs, their ensemble of actors-educators adapts students' original stories into vibrant stage performances. Their goal is to teach creative writing skills, build confidence, and provide high-quality theatre for students and the broader community.
Mission
PlayMakers Laboratory (PML) creates an alternative learning environment where children share their personal voices and celebrate their imaginations through creative writing and theater.
