Protection Engine Co. #3, the oldest fire company in the Honesdale Fire Department, was founded in 1853. It protects Honesdale and the surrounding area, with a history rooted in the purchase of Silsby Steam Fire Engine #483 in 1875. Today, it is one of four companies that make up the Honesdale Fire Department and remains a vital part of Northeastern PA's fire protection.
