The Salem Community Theatre, founded in 1977, provides Salem with live stage performances and promotes the theatrical arts. Originally performing at the Memorial Building and Salem High School, they purchased the old State Theatre in 1981. SCT offers instruction in theatre arts, live performances, and community outreach, contributing to the downtown area's economic and cultural vitality.
