About
The Shirley Historical Society, founded in 1997, conducts tours of the Shirley Shaker Village. The village closed in 1908 and was sold to the state. Today, it is part of the prison grounds (MCI Shirley), and the society provides guided tours with a historian. Proceeds support the society and restoration of the buildings.
Mission
The Shirley Historical Society preserves artifacts relating to the people and history of Shirley, Massachusetts. The Society also educates the public regarding historic matters and encourages preservation of historic sites within the town.
