The Skaneateles Sailing Club, founded in 1976 by Dick and Janet Besse, offers low-cost access to Skaneateles Lake and a welcoming community for sailing enthusiasts. Originally the Skaneateles Sailing Association (1962), it provides racing, sailing events, and seamanship education. The Besses gifted the club its lakeside property in 1995, securing its future. The club promotes sailing, safety, and preserving the lake's beauty, with members actively participating in maintenance and activities.
Mission
The Skaneateles Sailing Club provides low cost access to the lake for sailing and the opportunity to participate in a community of enthusiastic sailors. They focus on promoting the sport of sailing on Skaneateles lake.
