The South Philadelphia String Band, established in 1946, is an award-winning Philadelphia Mummers String Band. Founded in Samuel G. Hamilton's kitchen, it fosters the art of playing string instruments and encourages the Mummers Parades tradition. They've been tax-exempt since 2016. The band continues to perform and compete in the annual Philadelphia Mummers Parade, upholding a rich cultural heritage.
