About
The Waterfront Museum, founded in 1986 on the Lehigh Valley No. 79 barge, resides at Pier 44 in Red Hook, Brooklyn since 1994. David Sharps, a former juggler, discovered the barge in 1985 and transformed it into a unique performance and educational space. The museum offers educational programs, circus acts, and music series, revitalizing Red Hook's waterfront. After a period of decline, the museum helped residents rediscover their waterfront and continues to provide unique experiences.
Mission
The Waterfront Museum, located in Red Hook, Brooklyn, and housed on the 1914 Lehigh Valley Barge #79, provides free and low-cost opportunities for education, exhibition, and the performance arts while promoting historic preservation and public waterfront access.
