The Valley Penning Association (VPA), based in Santa Ynez Valley, is an organization with over 150 members. They compete in team penning and sorting, working cow horse sports. Teams of three riders cut out cattle and drive them across a line or into a pen in under 90 seconds. Divisions include Novice, Limited, and Open, with members coming from various locations to compete.
