About
The VFW Department of Indiana, founded in 1947, is a fraternal, patriotic, historical, charitable, and educational organization for veterans of overseas conflicts. Its mission is to serve veterans, the military, and communities. They provide support, camaraderie, and advocate for veterans' benefits.
Mission
The VFW traces its roots back to 1899, when veterans of the Spanish-American War and the Philippine Insurrection founded local organizations to secure rights and benefits for their service. Since then, the VFW's voice has been instrumental in establishing the Veterans Administration and creating GI bills.
