The VETERANS OF FOREIGN WARS OF THE UNITED STATES DEPT OF INDIANA, founded in 1947, honors the dead by helping the living. Through veterans' service, community service, national security and a strong national defense, the VFW advocates and serves veterans, the military, and communities. VFW members volunteer and have influenced the creation of the Veterans Administration, the GI Bill, the national cemetery system, and compensation for veterans.
Mission
The Veterans of Foreign Wars Department of Indiana Foundation supports programs increasing awareness of veterans' sacrifices, promoting citizenship education, volunteerism, and youth programs. They also facilitate aid for veterans and their families in need of medical, rehabilitative, educational, and employment services.
