The Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States Dept of Wisconsin, founded in 1973, honors the dead by helping the living through veterans' service, community service, national security, and a strong national defense. VFW members volunteer in their communities and have influenced the establishment of the Veterans Administration, the GI Bill, the national cemetery system, and compensation for veterans exposed to Agent Orange and diagnosed with Gulf War Syndrome.
Mission
The VFW's purpose is fraternal, patriotic, historical, charitable, and educational. They preserve comradeship, assist veterans and their families, perpetuate the memory of the dead, maintain allegiance to the U.S., foster patriotism, and defend the United States.
