The Westwego Historical Society, founded in 1997, preserves and shares the history of the Westwego area. The Westwego Historical Museum houses exhibits highlighting the city's cultural heritage. Mission
Housed in the original General Store, the Westwego Historical Museum features exhibits and artifacts, including the 12-ft. mounted alligator named Salagator, reflecting Westwego's rich history.
