About
Whaling City Rowing Club, founded in 1998, educates youth and adults about the science, history, and culture of local maritime traditions and whaleboats. Originally "Whaleboats for the Whaling City" under WHALE, they acquired three Beetle whaleboat replicas in 1999 and have organized the Independence Day Whaleboat Races at SummerFest since. The organization aims to preserve New Bedford's maritime heritage.

Whaling City Rowing is a nonprofit educational organization dedicated to preserving the traditions of New Bedford, Massachusetts' maritime past and encouraging an appreciation for the area's modern-day maritime beauty.
