We are delighted to announce that our fifth Industry Leaders Lunch in aid of The Akwaaba Foundation will be held at <a fr-original-style="" href="https://www.foundersco.org.uk/hall-hire" rel="noopener noreferrer" style="text-decoration-color: currentcolor; user-select: auto; box-sizing: inherit;" target="_blank">Founders&rsquo; Hall</a> on Tuesday July 7th, with generous support of their in house caterers <a fr-original-style="" href="https://www.lifeskitchen.com/" rel="noopener noreferrer" style="text-decoration-color: currentcolor; user-select: auto; box-sizing: inherit;" target="_blank">Life&rsquo;s Kitchen</a>. We have had great feedback on our first four lunches which were attended by a total of over 200 owners and directors of event agencies, caterers and suppliers, creating a valuable networking opportunity in a relaxed atmosphere, well away from our increasingly hectic workday lives.&nbsp; Not only is this the fifth Leaders Lunch, but 2026 also marks The Akwaaba Foundation&rsquo;s 10th Anniversary. To celebrate this important milestone for the Charity, we are delighted to announce that our Co-Founder, Jordan Palmer, will be attending the lunch. &nbsp; We are also holding a silent auction which includes around 25 amazing hotel stays, fine dining, hospitality tickets and other lots generously donated by some of our previous lunch attendees. &nbsp;The link to the auction will be sent out in early June and the bidding will be closing at 5pm on the day of the lunch. The ticket price will be held at &pound;98, with around 50% of the price (all profits) being donated to&nbsp;<a fr-original-style="" href="https://akwaabavolunteers.org.uk/" rel="noopener noreferrer" style="text-decoration-color: currentcolor; user-select: auto; box-sizing: inherit;" target="_blank">Akwaaba Volunteers</a>.&nbsp; Following some great (and well attended) morning business sessions, Emilie Thysse from <a fr-original-style="" href="https://www.ydtraining.com/" rel="noopener noreferrer" style="text-decoration-color: currentcolor; user-select: auto; box-sizing: inherit;" target="_blank">Yellow Door Training</a> will be presenting a two hour &ldquo;Micro Course&rdquo;: Building a High Performance Culture with Emilie Thysse, Yellow Door Training &amp; Development.&nbsp;This high-impact workshop helps leaders understand the behaviours that drive both high performance and a thriving culture in fast-paced, high-pressure environments. Drawing on Emilie&rsquo;s experience working with clients across events, sport, property and law, you&rsquo;ll explore how to balance results with engagement, while building consistency across your team. You&rsquo;ll assess where your team is today, identify clear opportunities for growth and gain practical insight into the leadership habits and behaviours that unlock sustainable performance, so your teams don&rsquo;t just deliver results, they do it consistently, with clarity, alignment and momentum. Emilie has kindly agreed to deliver this valuable two-hour session free of charge, so that a small charge of &pound;50 for the morning can be donated directly to the Charity. Accra was hit by torrential rain and severe flooding on Monday. &nbsp;Many of the children and families that we support have lost everything and we need to find new housing for Faustina&rsquo;s family, whose home was swept away.&nbsp;The video above shows the foundations - all that is left of their house. (See her family story here: <a fr-original-style="" href="https://www.instagram.com/reel/DQOppqGiAtD/?igsh=MTVwZWltd2wzM251cA==" id="isPasted" style="text-decoration-color: currentcolor; user-select: auto; box-sizing: inherit;" target="_blank">https://www.instagram.com/reel/DQOppqGiAtD/?igsh=MTVwZWltd2wzM251cA==</a>) In addition, many of our children need new shoes, uniforms and books to get them back to school and we had serious roof damage to the new IT Centre and community library, and our community SUV needs repairs after floodwater damage. &nbsp; We are launching an emergency appeal to raise &pound;5,000 to help these families with new accommodation and essentials and the emergency repairs to our projects, so please give what you can to support us as we work in the community to get them the basic clothing, books and housing that will help them get their lives and education back on track.&nbsp; We are grateful for any donations you can make to support this appeal. This September, I&rsquo;ll be taking on a challenge that is as equally exciting as it is terrifying&hellip; wing walking! ✈️ For anyone wondering what that means, I&rsquo;ll be strapped to the top of a plane as it takes flight. Definitely not your everyday fundraising activity, but it&rsquo;s something I&rsquo;ve always wanted to try and since I&rsquo;m going to really put myself through it, I wanted to use this as an opportunity to raise money for a cause that truly matters. I&rsquo;ll be fundraising for the Akwaaba Foundation, a charity doing amazing work to support children in disadvantaged communities in Accra, Ghana. Through education and opportunities, Akwaaba helps provide the support and care needed to help over 300 children build brighter futures. For nearly a year now, I&rsquo;ve had the privilege of sponsoring Nadia, an 11-year-old girl through school - it has been incredible to see her progress. Through Akwaaba, Nadia has access to the essentials every child deserves, education, care, sports and support. Seeing first-hand the difference this makes, is why it means so much!&nbsp; As the wing walk was gifted to me, 100% of your donation goes directly to the charity. So, if you&rsquo;d like to support a fantastic cause (and help me justify my slightly questionable decision to stand on top of a plane), I&rsquo;d be incredibly grateful for your support.
