The Art Gallery of Regina is a nonprofit public art gallery with charitable status promoting the development and appreciation of contemporary art with an emphasis on Saskatchewan artists.

Experience Indigenous Perspectives, sponsored by Casino Regina, as we explore Art$ Funding&mdash;a painfully funny exhibition revealing the realities of artists&#39; lives beyond the canvas.&nbsp; Artists Christopher Campbell Gardiner, Glen Johnson, Milton Lim, and Patrick Blenkarn shed light on the overlooked challenges of securing grant funding. Far from &quot;free money,&quot; their work playfully and poignantly exposes the struggles, disappointments, and hard work behind every artwork, exhibition and organization. Validate your inner artist at Johnson&rsquo;s Artistic Licence Bureau, compete for creative grants in Lim and Blenkarn&rsquo;s culturecapital&nbsp;card game, and get an ironic chuckle from Campbell Gardiner&rsquo;s works that encase painful reminders of failure and rejection as a way of letting go of anger, embarrassment, and disappointment. Enjoy a free exhibition tour, an open discussion, and a hands-on activity led by Christopher Campbell Gardiner, whose art has long transformed pain and shame into healing. Contribute your thoughts to a collaborative artwork and experience the soothing, restorative process of repetitive stitching or obscuring objects beneath multiple layers of paint in a supportive, social setting. Participants are invited to bring an item that caused some frustration or trauma so that they can ritually seal it away.&nbsp; Snacks and guidance from an elder are provided. Join us Friday, June 5, 2-5 PM (events scheduled for 2:30 - 4:30 PM, but we allow additional time for folks to arrive, socialize and complete their projects)&nbsp;at the Art Gallery of Regina, 2420 Elphinstone St. All are welcome&mdash;no experience needed, just curiosity!

Still Life Saturday with the RSM

Join us for Indigenous Perspectives, sponsored by Casino Regina, &nbsp;reflecting on the exhibition The Thread of the Wish featuring artists N&eacute;gar Devine-Tajgardan, Lara Felsing, Adrian Golban, and David Garneau.&nbsp;This exhibition explores weaving as both method and metaphor, as each of these artists take different approaches to explore identity, family, history, and culture. This free event includes an exhibition tour, followed by an open discussion and a hands-on activity inspired by the exhibition, led by M&eacute;tis textile artist Sara McCreary, complete with snacks and an elder present, on Friday, March 6, from 2 - 5 PM at the Art Gallery of Regina, 2420 Elphinstone St. Sara will be guiding a making activity inspired by the exhibition. This free event includes an exhibition tour, followed by an open discussion and a hands-on activity inspired by the exhibition, led by M&eacute;tis textile artist Sara McCreary, complete with snacks and an elder present, on Friday, January 16, from 2:30 to 4:30 PM at the Art Gallery of Regina, 2420 Elphinstone St.&nbsp;Sara will guide a hands-on workshop using hand stitching, embroidery, and appliqu&eacute; to create wearable art pins or textile patches. Participants can mend or decorate garments, or make unique pins. No experience is needed&mdash;just curiosity and a willingness to explore creative stitching in a relaxed, process-focused session. Come see these beautiful creatures up close, learn about them from local biologists, and then spend a relaxed afternoon drawing them!Easels, drawing donkeys, and seating will be provided- please bring your favourite art supplies with you!

Language offers unique insights into worldviews and beliefs; clothing serves as a means of signaling our identities, beliefs, and allegiances to the world. Indigenous Perspectives: An Accidental Forever exhibition tour & Saulteaux T-shirt

In this event, concluding our time together, the artists will perform&nbsp;Niimin Dance Dans, which combines jingle dress dancing with&nbsp;pagan pre-Christian Romanian dance, marrying the artists&#39; respective intangible cultural heritages. The artists perform against a projected background of the artists dancing The Niimin Dance Dans at Sunrise, Noon and Sunset in the Romanian hills where Pelmus&#39; family still reside. Create your own punk rock&ndash;inspired patches using fabric paint, recycled cloth, and DIY design techniques. This hands-on workshop, led by The Fashion Show participating artist Geanna Dunbar, explores self-expression, anti-establishment art culture, and wearable creativity through patch making rooted in punk aesthetics and personal storytelling.&nbsp;Participants will design and paint custom patches using stencils, freehand lettering, symbols, imagery, and bold visual styles. Whether you want to make something political, personal, humorous, or artistic, this workshop encourages creative freedom in a supportive and inclusive environment.&nbsp;In this workshop, participants will develop practical skills such as fabric painting, stencil creation, and hand lettering. They will also learn how to plan effective patch layouts and compositions, gaining hands-on experience in designing and assembling unique wearable art.&nbsp;All skill levels are welcome. Materials can be provided, or participants may bring their own fabric, jackets, bags, or clothing to customize.

Punk Patch Workshop

Join artist David Le for a workshop designed for youth ages 10-18, exploring the art of sketching fashion designs and the powerful role clothing plays in shaping our identities. Participants will learn fundamental sketching techniques to bring their fashion ideas to life, while discussing how we express ourselves through our choices in dress and how we adapt our style to different environments and daily tasks.&nbsp;The workshop will delve into how everyday considerations have influenced traditional cultural dress worldwide, helping participants understand the connections among clothing, culture, and identity. David will guide youth in creating designs that reflect their unique personalities and inspire them to think about how beauty and creativity in fashion can positively impact mental health.&nbsp;Through hands-on activities, group discussions, and creative expression, this workshop encourages young designers to see fashion as a tool for self-discovery, cultural appreciation, and emotional well-being.

Fashion Sketching for Youth

In this workshop, sound becomes the creative foundation for setting the mood of a fashion show. Led by artist Jason Baerg and local sound artists, youth will explore the art of crafting immersive soundscapes that elevate the runway experience. Participants will learn how music, ambient sounds, and audio effects can shape atmosphere, influence emotion, and complement the visual impact of fashion. Through hands-on activities and collaborative experimentation, youth will develop skills in selecting and layering sounds, designing audio cues, and integrating sonic elements to enhance their show&rsquo;s narrative and energy. This workshop empowers participants to express their creative vision not only through clothing but through the powerful medium of sound, transforming their fashion show into a multisensory celebration.

Runway Resonance: Soundscapes for Fashion Shows

In this hands-on workshop, participants will discover the art of foraging for natural materials and transferring their pigments and patterns onto garments. Guided by experienced facilitators, youth will explore their surroundings to collect leaves, flowers, and other organic elements, learning how to extract their vibrant colours and unique textures. Using various eco-printing and natural dyeing techniques, they will customize clothing and fabrics, imprinting them with the rich hues and intricate patterns found in nature. This creative process not only yields one-of-a-kind wearable art but also deepens participants&rsquo; connection to the environment, inspiring a mindful approach to fashion and self-expression.

Eco-Dyeing Accessories

Cloak yourself in story and walk the talk on the runway at the Sunday Afternoon Fashion Show at the Art Gallery of Regina! Clothes tell others who we are, what we value and how we want to be perceived; identity is also expressed in our musical choices.&nbsp;Workshop participants of all ages from the punk pin-making, punk back patch and foraged eco-print accessories workshops will stomp down the runway, modelling their creations and sharing their messages to the beat of soundtracks designed in the &quot;Runway Resonance: soundscapes for fashion shows&quot; workshops. The fashion show will take place in the NBCAC Courtyard, if weather permits, or in the AGR&rsquo;s main gallery. Fashion sketches by youth will be exhibited in the Neil Balkwill Civic Arts Centre Hallways.&nbsp;In the spirit of inclusivity, everyone is invited to walk the runway, supported by peers and the sounds of cheers as well as a thoughtfully crafted soundscape, before striking a pose for our event paparazzo. Whether wearing their own designs, fashion from the exhibition, or simply dressing up for fun, the Sunday Afternoon Fashion Show celebrate individuality, community and stories.

Fall Masterclass: Beyond the View with Sue Contini 🎨Learn inventive techniques for acrylic landscape painting.Step into landscape with curiosity, where exploration and discovery are at the heart of the process!Through demos, guided exercises and plenty of personal support, Sue will show you how to simplify what you see and turn it into lively expressive painting that is imbued with you. The Art Gallery of Regina&nbsp;(AGR)&nbsp;is a small, independent, public art gallery with non-profit and charitable status. This&nbsp;fundraising event supports our programming, which includes the exhibition of Saskatchewan artists, free programs for youth, children, and adults with disAbilities, and many more meaningful art experiences.&nbsp;Thanks to community support through events like this, the AGR has been a community hub for 50 years!
