Bioregional Learning Centre CIC

We’re here to open up conversations and build collaborations for long-term climate resilience. We are working towards a climate resilient and biodiverse future bioregion where communities learn together, systems rebalance and landscapes flourish.

The Bioregional Learning Centre (supported by partners including Sustainable South Hams, South Hams District Council and Devon Climate Emergency) has been developing a network of organisations working across climate, nature, community and resilience in South Devon. In order to plan for the future together. From Thursday 30th April, they will be hosting a free Joined Up Action Café online from 1-2pm every other week on Thursdays. These will alternate between focus sessions with guest speakers, and solutions sessions looking to tackle local problems raised by members of the coalition such as flooding, road repairs, food security, community health or ecosystem restoration. The café is specific to South Devon but anyone who is interested is very welcome to come along. To access the free webinar series, sign up here. If you are working on any of the relevant topics and would like to join the Joined Up Action network, email Bridie at bridie.kennerley@bioregion.org.uk.

Bioregional Learning Days - July 2026

A bioregional and systems approach for river enthusiasts Schedule: Spring 2026Six 90-minute online sessions from 18:00-19:30 held fortnightly from Tuesday 3rd March 2026.-> Session 2 from 18:00-19:30 on 17th March 2026.1-day fieldtrip in Devon in May/June (TBC) Rivers are one of the most powerful entry points into bioregional practice. They reveal how land, water, infrastructure, governance, climate and culture interact across a landscape. This six-session online course, delivered by the Bioregional Learning Centre from South Devon, offers a grounded introduction to river and catchment science through a systems and regenerative lens. Designed for river enthusiasts, citizen scientists and emerging bioregional practitioners across the UK and Europe, it builds scientific literacy alongside systems thinking, equipping participants to understand, diagnose and help regenerate the rivers in their own bioregions. Rivers are more than channels of water. They are living systems shaped by geology, rainfall, soil, land use, infrastructure, culture and governance. They connect uplands to estuaries, farms to towns, people to place. This six-session online course offers a grounded introduction to river and catchment science through a systems-thinking and regenerative lens. It is designed for river enthusiasts, citizen scientists, community groups and emerging bioregional practitioners who want to deepen their understanding of how rivers function — and how they can be restored. Rooted in the landscapes of South Devon but relevant to any bioregion, the course builds scientific literacy alongside practical diagnostic skills and place-based insight.
