This event is free. &nbsp;Join the California Central Coast Chapter for a birding trip and tour one of the Western Foundation of Vertebrate Zoology (WFVZ) birding research sites and Ventura County&#39;s premier wetland and riparian restoration sites along the Santa Clara River. Held in conjunction with the California Bird Atlas BIG WEEKEND.If you need to borrow binoculars let us know so we can bring enough extra pairs.&nbsp; Space for this field trip is limited. Society will be hosting a workshop featuring aquatic and semi-aquatic
herpetofauna of the central coast region. Dr. Robert Cooper, Jeff Alvarez, and Dr. Erin Toffelmier will
present on rare and common species from the California central coast region.
Species identification, survey protocols, and field methods will be emphasized.
Superficial handling and identification of California red-legged frog, coast
range newt, California tiger salamander, western spadefoot, and southwestern
pond turtle ecology and identification will be emphasized during the field and

2025 Annual Wildlife Symposium

*Registration is available for CCCC TWS members only.* The California Central Coast Chapter of The Wildlife Society and the California Department of Fish and Wildlife are hosting a workshop featuring San Joaquin Kit Fox biology. Species identification, survey protocols, and field methods will be emphasized. Field methods include spotlighting, camera trapping, and den and sign identification. &nbsp; Workshop Fee includes all meals and tent or car camping on a beautiful property. Limited bunkhouse space may be available on a first-come, first-served basis. The location is remote with limited cell reception, and a four-wheel drive is not required to reach base camp. Scholarships for Underrepresented Biologists with financial need* are now closed.&nbsp; Due to the limited nature of this workshop, a maximum of 2 participants from a given organization will be permitted. Additional participants who do not follow these workshop requirements will be dropped from the class.&nbsp; This is a rigorous workshop. You may experience inclement weather, difficult terrain, long days/nights, limited facilities, and physical demands.
