Didgeridoo Basics: A Beginner&rsquo;s Sound JourneyDiscover the unique sounds and rich cultural history of the didgeridoo in this fun, beginner-friendly class! Participants will learn basic playing techniques, breathing methods, and simple rhythms while exploring one of the world&rsquo;s oldest wind instruments. No experience is needed &mdash; just bring your curiosity and get ready to make some music! Suitable for teens and adults. &nbsp;Program limited to 12 participants; children under 17 must be accompanied by an adult.&nbsp;

Didgeridoo Basics: A Beginner’s Sound Journey

Meet the gopher tortoise 🐢&mdash;a true &ldquo;superhero&rdquo; of the scrub&mdash;on a guided program at Gamble Rogers State Park. Learn how its burrows shelter countless other species and why protecting this gentle digger protects the whole habitat. By joining this event 🌿, you support our mission to preserve the park&rsquo;s natural communities and share practical ways to care for Florida&rsquo;s landscapes at home and on the trail. Gopher Tortoise: Superhero of the Scrub

Bring a touch of coastal inspired charm into your space with this fun and creative workshop! Using sea glass, recycled corks, and simple mixed media techniques, participants will design a charming seaside-inspired artwork to take home. Materials provided; feel free to bring your own sea glass and cork (cut in half) for personalization. $5 material fee payable in cash to the instructor; park entry fee separate. Space limited to 10. Perfect for younger audiences aged 5-12, this fun and engaging program introduces sea turtles and the remarkable traits that help animals survive in the wild. Kids Art Club: May Day FlowersSaturday, May 9 &nbsp; &nbsp;12 &ndash; 1 pm &nbsp;In this fun and hands-on workshop, children will tap into their creativity as they decorate their very own flowerpot using colorful stickers. Once their masterpiece is complete, each child will plant a vibrant flower to take home and nurture. This class is perfect for welcoming the May Day season&mdash;a time of growth, renewal, and blooming beauty. Kids will not only enjoy crafting and planting but also learn simple tips on how to care for their new plant. Registration required as there is a 20-person limit for this program.

Volunteer - Earth Day EDC

Your support for this event will be used to assist the Gamble Rogers State Park Turtle Patrol Team during the upcoming 2026 season. &nbsp;Our parks are designated state-index nesting beaches by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC). During this past season, from mid-April to October, our team patrolled the 4 miles of shoreline along Gamble Rogers and North Peninsula State Parks each day at dawn looking for signs of new nesting sites. They protected a total of 242 nests in 2025 by identifying turtle species and marking, monitoring, and inventorying each one. They also helped dozens of stranded hatchlings make it to the ocean. Sea turtle patrol members reduced disturbances to nesting areas and educated the public about the importance of sea turtle conservation. Data collected as part of the program is analyzed by the FWC to evaluate population trends and determine management strategies to help sea turtles now and in the future.

In this class, you&rsquo;ll shape a manatee out of air-dry clay&mdash;yes, the gentle sea giant that basically looks like a floating blob with flippers and a nose. If your creation turns out a little lumpy, extra round, or gloriously blobby&hellip; congratulations, that means you did it right! We&rsquo;ll embrace the squish, celebrate the flippers, and have a splash of fun bringing these lovable manatees to life.

Space is limited,&nbsp;tours may be sold out. Explore the salt marsh on this two-hour guided kayak tour. Learn about the importance of this dynamic ecosystem.&nbsp;All levels of experience are welcome. Join Master Naturalist and park volunteer Missy Clauson for a guided hike on the Joe Kenner Nature Trail and discover the edible treasures of the maritime forest. Come prepared to walk, learn, and see the landscape in a whole new way! The walk ends with a special tasting of tea made from nature&rsquo;s gifts. $10 per person; proceeds benefit the Friends of Gamble Rogers State Park. Park entry fee separate. Space is limited to 10. Get into the Halloween spirit with a fun and creative craft class! Participants will design and decorate their own festive Halloween card and create a colorful candy bag to take home.
