International Vegan Film Festival

The International Vegan Film Festival promotes veganism through cinema, showcasing films that inspire and educate about animal rights and plant-based living. They celebrate filmmakers and foster a global community passionate about vegan storytelling.

The only thing better than vegan films is...MORE vegan films! Most film festival are competitions, but the International Vegan Film Festival is a conduit for the artistic expressions that translate nonhuman animals voices to be understood by their oppressors. Our Intersectional category in particular celebrates the knowledge that hierarchies must be dismantled -- people groups cannot be animalized if our circle of compassion includes all sentient beings.&nbsp; 2025 has been a banner year for vegan films, with 56 submissions (not including our social media category) and over 45 hours of runtime. The IVFF finding a home at Wishbone Animal Rights Lab in Toronto has opened year-round opportunities to screen festival films, and for the first time feature-length films, and build partnerships with veg-friendly communities. But why wait? Devoted filmmakers have made the pilgrimage to Toronto from other countries and continents, and this encore screening at The Lab will be one last engagement for film lovers who have made the pilgrimage, and for those who simply don&#39;t want the weekend of films to be over!

IVFF 2025 Encore Screenings

After two days of deliberation, pitching, and solutioneering the systemic injustices that must be resolved to achieve a compassionate and safe living space for humanity, the participants of the 23rd Vegan Convergence of the People will be joining this special screening of projects that celebrate Climate Healers and their partners, including Plant Based Treaty and the Animal Save Movement. This will be an opportunity for Toronto to embrace our visitors whether they further the movement through films or vibrant volunterism.

In 2025 the IVFF has enjoyed an unprecedented year, almost doubling both the number of films and their total runtime -- an astoundingly positive sign for the movement, and the foundation of filmmakers who amplify the voices of animals and the people who are building pathways to a humane and sustainable future. International Vegan Film Festival Tickets

2025 was a breakout year for feature-length films -- 23 of them across six categories. But there can be only one winner of the Vegan-Themed Feature Film category...and it will be screened at 3pm on Sunday, November 2.

Sunday Matinee: IVFF Best Vegan-Themed Feature

The relationship between human and non-human animals often seems a monolithic legacy of unequal benefit, yet a paradigm that is about to shift. People are seeing animals, bearing witness to our intolerable systems, and understanding speciesism in ways that are simultaneously as new as veganism and as old as our earliest writings about our fellow Earthlings.

IVFF Animal Advocacy Program

This is the IVFF that we have known for eight years -- the compilation of the year&#39;s best vegan-themed short films. A gentle but deeply emotional examination of animals, people, lifestyles, and advocacy for a more compassionate and healthy world for all.

IVFF Short Film Program

Coffee Wars, starring UK pop sensation Kate Nash (NETFLIX&#39;s Glow), Sairose-Monica Jackson (Derry Girls, The Flash), stage actor Freddie Fox (The Three Musketeers), and Toby Sebastian (Game of Thrones --&nbsp;if you think those lips look familiar, he&#39;s Florence Pugh&#39;s brother!). The narrator is not Morgan Freeman (The Shawshank Redemption) so stop asking. Coffee aficionado Jo (Nash) is doing her best to keep her coffee shop afloat alongside a band of unpredictable colleagues. At night she slips into the caffeinated underworld to aggressively compete with latte foam art against the who&#39;s who of London&#39;s caf&eacute; scene. Nothing seems to be going her way until she gets the chance to prove herself at the World Barista Championship.

Saturday Matinee: Coffee Wars

November 1 is World Vegan Day, and the IVFF is celebrating over 80 years since the word &quot;vegan&quot; was coined to describe the distinct splinter faction of The Vegetarian Society and their newsletter. The films in this program maintain a sensitivity to viewers who might otherwise be cautious about vegan films that depict the violent realities of our food and fashion industries -- safe for the tenderest of hearts, but come prepared to feel deeply for the human and non-human animals on the screen!

World Vegan Day Weekend in Toronto is an event-filled three days starting on Halloween -- which we prefer to call World Vegan Day&#39;s Eve. In addition to free events like the zombie makeup workshop at Wishbone Animal Rights Lab and the Vegan Zombie Walk through Canada&#39;s busiest intersection nearby, the International Vegan Film Festival deploys their &quot;scary movies*&quot; at a food and fun-filled costume party, with prizes and kill-free karaoke! * No, not Earthlings, Dominion, or documentaries that depict the real-life &quot;horrors&quot; of the slaughter industries.
