The League of Women Voters of Metropolitan Columbus empowers citizens to engage in democracy through education and advocacy, promoting informed participation in government and influencing public policy for a stronger community.

You are invited to join the League of Women Voters of Metropolitan Columbus for Democracy In Action, the League&rsquo;s largest annual fundraiser and signature event, on Thursday, May 14, 2026 6-8pm at The Ohio State University, Fawcett Event Center (2400 Olentangy River Rd, Columbus, OH 43210). Democracy In Action celebrates the League&rsquo;s mission and honors individuals whose leadership and service have made a lasting impact on the civic life of Central Ohio. In 2026, we are proud to honor Kathy and Fred Ransier for their lifelong dedication to civic leadership, public service, and community advancement. Kathy and Fred have given generously of their time and talents to numerous civic, educational, and nonprofit organizations.&nbsp; The evening will begin with a reception featuring hors d&rsquo;oeuvres and beverages, followed by a formal program celebrating Kathy and Fred&rsquo;s extraordinary contributions, the importance of civic participation, and the League&rsquo;s ongoing work to strengthen democracy. Can&rsquo;t join us for DIA 2026 but still want to celebrate our honored guests? We are offering a special Tribute Package that highlights Kathy and Fred&rsquo;s extraordinary impact on our community while supporting the League&rsquo;s mission. Funds raised through Democracy In Action support LWVMC&rsquo;s mission to promote informed and active participation in government and to influence public policy through education and advocacy.&nbsp; For the first year we are using Zeffy for our event ticket sales. Join the League of Women Voters of Metropolitan Columbus for our Annual September Dinner Meeting on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at Mozart&#39;s Caf&eacute; and Event Space in Columbus! As our nation approaches the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, Americans are reflecting on the history of our democracy and the role each of us plays in shaping its future. At the same time, organizations and community leaders across the country are working to strengthen democratic institutions, expand civic participation, and ensure that every voice can be heard. This year&#39;s September Dinner Meeting will feature Kimberly Hamlin, a LWVUS Board Member from the League of Women Voters of Cincinnati Area (LWVCA). Kimberly is a historian who specializes in the US women&rsquo;s rights movement. &nbsp; Our evening&#39;s focus will be Unite and Rise: Community Partners Kimberly will share her thoughts on the League and our community partners. &nbsp;How we work together to support voter education, civic engagement, access to information, advocacy, and public participation&mdash;and how each of us can contribute to building a stronger democracy for the next 250 years. Annual September Dinner Meeting

Join the League of Women Voters of Metropolitan Columbus for a special Sunday afternoon fundraiser featuring longtime Columbus musician Bill Cohen in a 1960s-style folk music coffee house concert! Step back into the folk music revival of the 1950s, &#39;60s, and &#39;70s as Bill Cohen leads an engaging sing-along featuring songs of struggle, inspiration, history, and community. Together, we&#39;ll celebrate the music made famous by artists such as Pete Seeger, Joan Baez, Peter, Paul and Mary, the Kingston Trio, the Weavers, Harry Belafonte, Tom Paxton, the Limelighters, and more. Special guest Carl Yaffey will add extra sparkle with his banjo! Sing and clap along to love songs, children&#39;s songs, work songs, civil rights songs, anti-war songs, lullabies, and other folk classics. Whether you know every lyric or simply enjoy listening, you&#39;ll experience the energy, connection, and sense of community that have made these timeless songs so meaningful across generations.
