Following an overly successful &ldquo;One Day of Peace and Music&rdquo; festival back in March, coordinated in partnership with No One You Know Presents, the event&rsquo;s organizers were eager for more &mdash; in every sense of the word. Mikey Baish (The Sugar Hold), TJ Foster (E.R.I.E.) and Rory Graham (Metroland) quickly began dreaming up their next event, once again teaming up to raise both funds and awareness for an important cause.With September marking National Suicide Prevention Month, the cause to be supported was a no-brainer: the Capital Region&rsquo;s chapter of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP). AFSP is a regular presence at many local events, offering a much-deserved spotlight on a cause near and dear to so many. While their debut event back in March featured more than a dozen local musicians performing mini-sets of acoustic music, Love. Joy. Festival will expand both in scope and sound, featuring two stages of music: an enclosed pavilion for acoustic acts, and an outdoor stage for full bands located in their Pizza Garden. Nestled throughout will be a small selection of local vendors, raffles to support AFSP, and a kids&rsquo; zone curated by Graham so families can enjoy the event together. And of course, venture a little further onto the Indian Ladder grounds to meet and greet some of their wonderful animals, as well as partake in some apple-flavored delicacies. &ldquo;We are so excited to be debuting this event at Indian Ladder Farms,&rdquo; Foster says. &ldquo;Having made so many core memories there with my own kids, I&rsquo;m thrilled to be behind the scenes, helping to make a core memory for others, while also making a positive impact to a cause near and dear to my heart.&rdquo; Confirmed acts include popular local artists Sydney Worthley, Hayley Stafford, Reality Distortion, and E.R.I.E., Boston-based multi-genre artist A Day Without Love and Woodstock-based singer-songwriter Will Lawrence, with more exciting artists to be announced. The entire afternoon and evening of fun and community is expected to culminate in a campfire singalong involving both performers and audience members alike. &ldquo;Music has a special way of bringing people together,&rdquo; Baish says. &ldquo;The Love. Joy. Festival is about using the power of music to build community, promote mental health and wellness, and connect attendees with local organizations and services that can provide help when they or someone they care about needs it most.&rdquo;Established in 1987, the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) is a voluntary health organization that gives those affected by suicide a nationwide community empowered by research, education and advocacy. The Northeastern NY Chapter of AFSP was formally chartered in 2006 and serves 15 counties in Northeastern New York including Schenectady, Saratoga and Albany. &ldquo;To be a part of an event bringing families, Capital Region music lovers, organizations, and artists together in honor of mental health awareness is really an honor,&rdquo; Graham adds. &ldquo;This is a cause that hits home for so many, and I hope that we&rsquo;re able to provide an experience that&rsquo;s both joyful and meaningful for attendees.&rdquo; The Love. Joy. Festival will be a free event, with an encouraged donation of $10 or more accepted over at the AFSP tent.
