LXCL:Our Village Network provides crisis kits and compassionate support to children and caregivers facing instability due to domestic violence, homelessness, foster care transitions, grief, and other life challenges. We believe in the power of community and giving back, embodying the idea that it truly takes a village to help families find comfort, hope, and stability during difficult times. We are a 501(c)(3) registered nonprofit, EIN 41-4415537.

Cultivating Connection at The Pearl of ElginAt the heart of Our Village Network is the belief that every person deserves a space that reflects their worth. On May 9, we are partnering with the residents of The Pearl of Elgin to bring new life to their outdoor home. This project is about more than just flowers; it&rsquo;s about the 120 individuals who live there. By revitalizing common area shared planters and beds, we are creating a therapeutic retreat that promotes mental clarity and emotional peace. For the residents joining us to plant, this hands-on activity offers a vital sense of purpose and the healing joy of watching something grow. With a goal of $5,000, your support provides the high-quality soil and blooms necessary to transform their daily view into a lasting source of comfort and dignity. The knock on the door came without warning. Within hours, Child Protective Services was sitting at the kitchen table with a little girl who had spent her entire life in that house. She clutched a worn stuffed animal as she answered difficult questions no child should ever have to answer. Through tears and long pauses, she described what life had been like behind closed doors. The adults listened carefully. Notes were taken. Decisions were made. Then came the moment that changed everything. She was told she couldn&#39;t stay. The only home she had ever known would no longer be her home. As the caseworker helped her gather a few things, reality began to sink in. There wasn&#39;t time to pack her room. There wasn&#39;t time to sort through treasured belongings. There wasn&#39;t time to decide what memories she wanted to take with her. Her bicycle stayed behind. Her favorite blanket stayed behind. The drawings taped to her bedroom wall stayed behind. The family photos on her dresser stayed behind. When she walked out the door, she carried almost nothing. That night, she slept in a stranger&#39;s home with none of the things that had brought her comfort and security. For children entering foster care, escaping abuse, or experiencing family crisis, this story is far too common. In a matter of hours, their entire world can change. That is why Our Village Network, Inc. is committed to providing 1,200 crisis kits each year to children and caregivers throughout the Kenosha community. Each kit contains essential supplies, comfort items, hygiene products, and practical resources to help children navigate one of the most frightening moments of their lives. A crisis kit cannot replace a child&#39;s home. It cannot erase trauma. But it can provide comfort when everything feels uncertain. It can restore dignity when a child has lost so much.
