Help our fourth graders explore Long Lake Conservation Center with your generous donation! &nbsp; 🌲 Information about the trip:&nbsp;4th grades students are going to spend 2 days at Long Lake ConservationCenter in Palisade, MN. While at LLCC students will get hands on experiencessnowshoeing, cross country skiing, learning about outdoor survival, orienteering,learning about native species of MN, owls, wolves, and hear stories and legends ofMN indigenous people.&nbsp;As a district we have been working on equality and providing the same experience to all, rather than just to some. In this effort, we are trying to have the entire grade level go, rather than just one school.&nbsp;Last year we adopted a new curriculum for literacy. It is a thematic curriculum and one of our themes is called &ldquo;Extreme Settings&rdquo;. Throughout this module, the students will be gaining background knowledge about survival in extreme environments and mountains. After that, they get to use that background knowledge to better comprehend the novel, Hatchet. This module is always a favorite of the students and this Long Lake experience will allow them to gain even more knowledge and sense of what Brian experienced in the Canadian Wilderness.&nbsp;This overnight field trip will also teach students responsibility, independence,and respect. The Long Lake Nature School Adventure is a hands-on, inquiry based,learner centered environmental education program. Students that go on this trip say it&rsquo;s a once a lifetime experience. This experience helps students bond withtheir classmates which fosters a sense of belonging. Students get to know theirclassmates and teachers on a personal level which helps increase empathy towardseach other. Many of these experiences are new for students. By engaging in thesenew experiences, they&rsquo;re deepening their understanding of our natural world andbroadening their exposure. Cost (Including transportation, food &amp; lodging):1 Student Sponsorship&nbsp;= $1505 Student Sponsorship = $75010 Student Sponsorship = $1500 Our fourth grade team has applied for several grants in the hopes of offsetting costs to families and our PTC. &nbsp;Unfortunately, we will not know if we will be receiving any funding until November, at which point it would be too late for additional fundraising. &nbsp;If through your generous donations and potential grant money we receive more funding than is needed, the extra money would roll forward to the same field trip for the 2027-2028 class of fourth graders. &nbsp;Thank you for considering a donation to this wonderful opportunity for our fourth graders!
