Thomas Effect

The Thomas Effect provides Christmas stockings filled with essential items to individuals experiencing homelessness and substance use challenges, ensuring they feel seen and valued during the holiday season. Join us to spread hope and end stigma.

For many people experiencing homelessness, their dog is more than a pet; they are family, protection, comfort, and constant companionship. We see this need firsthand in Fort Worth. During one recent visit alone, we saw approximately 25–30 dogs living alongside their people. We saw loyal companions who were hungry, in the Texas heat, staying close to the people who depended on them. We saw people who, despite having so little, were doing everything they could to care for their dogs. These pups are not left behind, they are sharing the hardship, offering comfort, and remaining faithfully by their person’s side. They deserve to be remembered, cared for, and included.Through our Pup Packs campaign, The Thomas Effect will provide doggie bags during homeless outreach throughout the year. Bags may include dog food, treats, collapsible bowls, toys, waste bags, blankets, and other essential supplies. Our major distribution takes place this Christmas through our Stockings for Pine Street project, and this effort continues when we distribute homeless supply bags in our community. When we care for these dogs, we also care for the people who love them. Your donation will help provide nourishment, comfort, and dignity to dogs who faithfully remain by their person’s side through everything. No person forgotten. No pup forgotten.

Stockings for Pine Street Project 🎄🧦 Your gift helps us pack stockings with socks, snacks, hygiene items, and small comforts for people in inpatient treatment and neighbors facing homelessness. Each one is a simple, tangible reminder that someone sees them and cares. The Thomas Effect was created in memory of Thomas Alex McConatha to confront the fentanyl crisis, support recovery, and end the stigma around Substance Use Disorder. Your donation helps us reach our goal of 1,000 stockings and offer real hope to individuals and families who need it most.
