The Thomistic Artists Guild fosters a community of artists inspired by Thomistic philosophy, promoting the integration of faith and art through events, workshops, and discussions that explore the creative process and the beauty of artistic expression.

Every work of music begins as inspiration, an idea that the composer shapes into something beautiful, ordered, and moving. But how does a composer go from inspiration to finished work?&nbsp; Join the Thomistic Artists Guild for an evening with distinguished musicologist Dr. Byron Adams. Drawing from his work as both a scholar and a composer, he&rsquo;ll illuminate the inner architecture of tonal composition: how a musical idea is discerned, developed, refined, and ultimately offered to the world. This is not necessarily a technical workshop but a deeper look at the creative act itself. Open to anyone interested in exploring how art comes to be! About Dr. Byron AdamsDr. Byron Adams is a Distinguished Professor of music at the University of California, Riverside, specializing in British and French music from the 19th and 20th centuries. He holds a master of music from USC and a doctorate in musical arts from Cornell. He has earned accolades for both his musical compositions and his academic work, and his musical compositions have been performed all over the world. His honors and accolades include the 1977 Delius Festival Composition Grand Prize, the 1984 ASCAP Raymond Hubbell Award, the 1985 Ralph Vaughan Williams Fellowship, and the 2000 Philip Brett Award.

Join us for an immersive day of exploring the beauty of music! Conference sessions will focus on different aspects of true leisure (&agrave; la Josef Pieper), featuring keynote speakers on philosophical and practical topics which touch on music in the Christian life. We&rsquo;ll learn what to listen for in music, and develop our abilities to delight in true musical beauty. Participants will also learn to sing a Mass ordinary for a Solemn High Mass for the feast of St. Thomas Aquinas. A festive dinner concludes the day.
