We believe in fostering connections that empower both people and their canine companions, guided by principles of diversity, equity, and responsible stewardship. As an entirely volunteer-driven organization, 100% of the funds raised go directly into community support, service dog training and materials, and both healing trauma and preventing traumatic experiences from causing lateral damage. By supporting Friendly Dog Training with your donation, you enable quality, trauma-informed dog training to be available to all people and dogs, without barriers related to ability or income. We emphasize harm reduction and prevention, recognizing that understanding behavior is crucial to fostering healthy relationships. We offer multiple ways for people to develop healthy relationships with dogs, ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to benefit from our services:Families can help their canine companions become valuable family members, enhancing harmony at home.USPS employees have free access to learn about reading canine communication, improving their safety and enhancing their work environment.Disabled individuals can access free or low-cost, handler-specific service dog training, promoting independence and well-being.Unhoused communities receive food and training assistance for their dogs, supporting both human and animal welfare.Every penny donated enables Friendly Dog Training to continue our mission of healing relationships, one heel at a time. (Please expand and read) Thank you for your Donation to reserve your spot for Orientation! *Thank you for your commitment to building a great relationship with your dog 🐕 and your decision to enable our all volunteer staff** to continue providing services and training in our community. Friendly Dog Training requires an Orientation before attending classes to cover safety, training equipment, expectations and responsibilities. We also cover our unique model of care, designed to identify, interrupt, and heal trauma responses. To ensure everyone gets the most out of Orientation, we have added an advance donation to reserve a spot in upcoming Orientations. We are now scheduling Orientations as soon as we have 5 committed reservations made. We are also finding when people take the initiative in organizing a group of friends/family members to take the class together, the classes are more productive, more fun, and generate more commitment. Therefore, family/friends or neighbors that want to take a class together can select their own class dates and times during their Orientation. Be sure to list your "referral" person to ensure everyone is placed in the same Orientation together! When we have a group sign up and prepay for a 3 month basic class together, we can teach in a mutually agreed upon location that is more convenient for your group.Every donation helps keep this support accessible to those navigating trauma, financial hardship, or major life transitions. You help us offer training that honors consent, personal agency, and accountability—for both people and dogs 🫱🏽‍🫲🏼We have now added the ability to make a recurring donation! As we are completely dependent on donations and people "paying it forward" to provide free service dog training, free service dog equipment, and to assist veterans with grooming and vet visits, our volunteers can't provide the equipment for services without your donations. A $350 donation pays for enough equipment for a three month FDTBD Basic Obedience Class for 10 members of the unhoused community. You can even designate which community you would like to help, and we will keep you updated on how your donation helped.Friendly Dog Training is "Healing Relationships, One Heel at a Time!"*We request a $30 donation to reserve a spot in Orientation. Or interested parties can pay $300 for the full 3 months of weekly classes.** Our all volunteer staff do not get paid for teaching classes. All money donated to Friendly Dog Training is used to cover our <$150 in monthly fees (Zoom, website, phones for volunteers, etc). We also provide equipment, food, grooming, vet services and specialized training equipment for our service dog clients according to need. We explain our Mutual Aid model in depth during the Orientation.
