Children and legal dependents of retired and current Avista employees who are pursuing an undergraduate or vocational-technical degree from an accredited institution. are eligible to apply. A panel of judges, not affiliated with Avista, selects award recipients with a weighted criteria of 70 percent on academic achievements and 30 percent on extracurricular activities. The Washington Water Power Legacy Scholarship Foundation, an all-volunteer organization consisting of Avista employees (both current and retired) as well as employee spouses, has been awarding college scholarships since 1975.
