Wildlife Care Association (WCA) is on track to care for more than 10,000 wild animals this year,&nbsp;a record for our organization and more than any other wildlife rehabilitation center in California. WE NEED EMERGENCY HELP! ﻿We are in the heart of our busiest baby season ever. Every day, orphaned babies, injured birds, sick mammals, and displaced wildlife arrive at our doors needing immediate care. WE SAY YES TO EVERY ANIMAL THAT NEEDS US.&nbsp; But providing lifesaving care (including formula, fresh produce and fish, medications, vaccines, medical supplies, and specialized housing for a record number of patients) comes at a tremendous cost. But from spring, through the warm summer months, and into fall, the WCA hospital is overflowing with animals in need of our help.&nbsp; Every day, frightened baby squirrels, orphaned opossums, injured hawks, tiny hummingbirds, ducklings, owlets, and dozens of other native animals arrive at our doors needing immediate care. Many have been displaced by habitat destruction, injured by vehicles, attacked by domestic pets, or separated from their parents during peak baby season. Unlike domestic animals, these patients have nowhere else to go. Wildlife Care Association is one of Northern California&#39;s only licensed wildlife rehabilitation hospitals dedicated to treating native wildlife; and this year, we&#39;re on track to care for more animals than ever before - nearly 10,000! We need your help to care for all of these animals! Behind every successful release is an incredible amount of work and days to months of care. A single orphaned squirrel requires around-the-clock feedings for weeks. An injured hawk needs daily care, medical treatment, and flight conditioning before it can return to the wild. A hummingbird can require feedings every 20 minutes. Every patient receives individualized care from trained staff and dedicated volunteers until they&#39;re healthy enough to return to the wild where they belong.
