Be a Playmaker & Make an Impact - Help us Build the Rink, Tile by Tile!
Playmaker Sports DEK is a nonprofit community recreation initiative created to introduce more young people in the Midlands to hockey and other stick-and-ball sports in a welcoming, accessible environment. The organization was founded to expand access to the game beyond traditional ice rinks by providing a place where kids can learn the fundamentals of hockey, build confidence, stay active, and participate in team-based activities regardless of experience or background. The Old Barn Hockey Yard is the community space at 148 Bradley Drive in West Columbia where youth can develop athletic skills, learn teamwork, and enjoy the game in a safe and positive setting. Programs will focus on introductory clinics, youth skill development, recreational play, and partnerships with local schools and youth organizations. By lowering the barriers to entry and creating a consistent place for kids to play, the project aims to grow participation in hockey and related sports throughout the region. We are inviting the community to help build The Old Barn Hockey Yard with us, starting with the multi-sport DEK rink. The rink floor will be made up of 5,000 interlocking DEK multi-sport tiles. Through this campaign, each tile represents a player, a family, or a supporter who helped make the DEK rink possible. When kids step onto the rink to play hockey, they will be playing on something their community built together.By sponsoring a tile, you are helping create a place where kids can play, learn, compete, and build friendships for years to come.
