Friendship Community Center Inc fosters connections and empowers individuals through diverse programs, promoting community engagement, support, and personal growth for all ages.

Join us for a night of music, art, and conversation with grammy award-winning musician Andrew Dost and painter, illustrator, and muralist Em Randall. Both have experience in each others&rsquo; area of expertise. Both artist were born and raised in northern Michigan. This is the first in the series &ldquo;In Good Company,&rdquo; pairing local musicians and artists (be they visual artists, poet, dancer, or writer). Unlike your typical concert, each evening is meant to explore how different disciplines see and influence each other and how our shared place is refracted through each unique lens. With host Joan Shelley, we will explore the challenges and gifts of creating and working in northern Michigan. A lifelong creator, he has performed in many bands, including Metal Bubble Trio, Fun, and Anathallo, and hosts &quot;Christmas at the Old Art Building&quot; in Leland every year. Her work revolves around distilling memory and feeling through portrayals of individual figures, animals, and tokens of collective symbolism.

Since 2011, when the first of his eight solo albums was released, he has quietly established a style marked by a depth and a complexity wholly his own, drawing on abiding interests in minimalism, rural American vernacular musics, and the work of British folk revivalists like Dick Gaughan, Dolly Collins, and Nic Jones. He&rsquo;s a frequent collaborator Chicago multi-instrumentalist James Elkington andsongwriter-singer Joan Shelley. Alongside his wife Sara, he farms Loma (a small-scale vegetable farm in Leelanau county) and is co-owner of Farm Club. Milling, baking, preserving, building &amp; designing, landscaping, cooking, developing recipes, designing packaging, etc., this is his latest, grandest art project. Writing the weekly letters and recipes that go out with their boxes of vegetables, Nic has a distinct style that humorously reflects the life of the food and the toil and devotion it requires. Emily Oakes of Traverse, Northern Michigan&#39;s magazine writes, &quot;Nic Theisen is an artist, and the earth is his medium. He sculpts soil into sustenance and embroiders landscapes into foliage. When a farm is your canvas, you learn to appreciate the transience of each carefully-tended masterpiece.
