A Two-Day Drawing Workshopby local artist Ed HallahanAugust 9 &amp; 10 from 1:00 pm &nbsp;- 3:00 pm Hands of Light and Dark is a meditative drawing experience and a metaphor for creation. It will use the form of your hand (and/or other hands), chiaroscuro drawing technique, the symbolism of light and dark (as in Yin Yang philosophy), and a circular format. Basic materials include white charcoal on black paper.

Join us Sunday, August 2 for Reemergence: an evening of poetry, art, &amp; music at LOOP, co-hosted by Lit Youngstown. Visiting poets Rebecca Evans and Hannah Rodabaugh will lead a writing workshop, followed by the opening for LOOP Studio Artists&#39; first exhibition, poetry readings, and live music. Schedule: Sunday, August 2, 2026<ul fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;"><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">3-5pm - &nbsp;How to Uncage Your Trauma: A Hybrid Writing Workshop (Ages 18+, $20 registration fee)&nbsp; </li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">5pm - Pizza Buffet: variety of meat, meatless, dairy, dairyless, salad, dessert. Gluten-free available. ($10 ticket) </li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">6pm - Art/Studio Opening: Loop studio artists exhibit their work on the theme &quot;Reemergence.&quot; (Free) </li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">7pm - Reading/Music: Loop poets and musicians and visiting poets Rebecca Evans and Hannah Rodabaugh. (Free)</li></ul> Youngstown native Hannah Rodabaugh&nbsp;is a poet, essayist, and writing teacher who lives in Boise, Idaho. She is the author of four poetry collections including Lost Cathedral&nbsp;(Cornerstone Press), and We Don&rsquo;t Bury Our Dead When Our Dead Are Animals (Another New Calligraphy), a Pushcart-nominated collection of ecological elegies. Poet, essayist and memoirist Rebecca Evans is an assault survivor, athlete, coach and veteran. She is the author of Tangled by Blood and Safe Handling (Moon Tide Press). She shares space with four Newfoundlands and her sons in a tiny town in Idaho.

Reemergence

Community members are invited to attend the dedication, tour the building, and meet members of LOOP&rsquo;s board and advisory council. The dedication will feature remarks from several speakers connected to the building&rsquo;s history and future mission. Dave Mirkin, whose grandfather built the original car showroom in 1946, will share stories about the building&rsquo;s connection to his family history. Angelo Lo Castro of Bridgeway Capital will discuss the economic and social impact of supporting the arts. Vaughn Wascovich, coordinator of LOOP&rsquo;s 2026 Emerging Artist Fellowship program, will introduce this year&rsquo;s fellowship cohort. Doors open at 1 p.m., and the official dedication ceremony will begin at 2 p.m.Refreshments will be served!
