Country Acres Rescue is dedicated to rescuing neglected and abandoned animals, providing them with essential veterinary care, shelter, and nourishment. Their mission is to ensure every animal receives the love and support needed for a healthy future.

Help us reopen intake

When Sullivan came to Country Acres Rescue in March, he was scared, shy, and unsure of the world around him. He was also in pain. Sullivan came to us with a broken hip and a deformed leg. Thanks to our incredible supporters, he was able to have hip surgery, complete his hydrotherapy, and recover in a loving foster home. We are thrilled to say he has made a wonderful physical recovery and is no longer living in the pain he came to us with. As he settled into rescue life and started feeling safe, Sullivan began showing behaviors that simply weren&rsquo;t apparent before. What started as occasional marking and difficulty living with other dogs has progressively become more concerning despite consistent one-on-one management and training in his foster home. As Sullivan grew comfortable enough to be himself, he also became comfortable enough to show us the behaviors he&rsquo;d been hiding while simply trying to survive. Those behaviors have now escalated to the point where he needs more help than we can provide in a foster home. The good news is that we aren&rsquo;t giving up on him. We&rsquo;ve made the decision to send Sullivan to a 30-day board-and-train program with trainers we&rsquo;ve worked with before and trust. They understand rescue dogs and have helped us successfully work through challenging behaviors in the past. His training will focus on: House manners and markingObedience and impulse controlLearning to peacefully coexist around other dogsBuilding structure and confidenceGiving both Sullivan and his future family the tools they need for success The cost of the program is $3,200. For a small rescue like ours, that&rsquo;s a significant expense&mdash;but Sullivan is only 1 year old. He has his entire life ahead of him, and we know he&rsquo;s worth the investment. Rescue isn&rsquo;t just about getting dogs out of shelters. It&rsquo;s about giving them every opportunity to succeed. Sometimes that means surgery. Sometimes it means rehabilitation. Burnout is so real.&nbsp; Donations to our Doggy Play Day Fund help cover the cost of doggy daycare, treadmill sessions, enrichment activities, and supervised playtime. These outings give our dogs a healthy outlet for their energy, improve their mental well-being, and provide much-needed relief for the amazing foster families who make rescue possible. A tired dog is often a happier, better behaved dog, and a happier dog is more successful in foster care and more adoptable!&nbsp; Thank you for helping our dogs burn energy, reduce stress, and continue putting their best paw forward while they wait for the families they&rsquo;ve been dreaming of.
