I can't bring Emily back. I can keep the next family out of The Empty Chair Club On April 3, 2010, my daughter Emily was killed on the Pacific Coast Highway. She was thirteen. She was walking to meet me, doing everything right. One angry driver took her in a single moment, and my life split into before and after.Since then, more than sixty people have died on the same twenty-one miles. Every one of them was someone's Emily.I did not set out to make a film. I set out to make people look. "21 Miles in Malibu" shows the most beautiful road in America and the lives it keeps taking. It is on PBS SoCal and streaming now, and it is doing what fifteen years of thoughts and prayers never did. It is making people angry enough to act. That anger is worth nothing unless we fund the fight behind it.Your gift powers the work that makes PCH safer. -The advocacy that led to speed cameras being written into California law. -The education that teaches a new driver to keep their eyes up. -The relentless pressure that forces this state to treat a road that runs through our town like the highway it is.I am done watching this community accept preventable death as normal. Stand with me.Give today. Then tell one person why.
