🎶 BEATS &bull; LOOPS &bull; GROOVES &bull; HARP 🎶Ready to discover what else your harp can do? Join us in Edinburgh for a two-day creative workshop for teenage harpists, exploring contemporary approaches to harp playing with two of Scotland&rsquo;s most exciting young harpists, Dara Dubh and Malachy Arnold. Over the 2 days, we&rsquo;ll get away from the music stand and experiment with:✨ Percussive harp techniques 🎵 Bass lines and grooves 🔁 Loop pedals and layering 🥁 Rhythm and beats 🎧 Pop, folk-fusion and contemporary sounds 🎶 Creating your own arrangements Dara and Malachy are both known for pushing the harp in exciting new directions &mdash; from Dara&rsquo;s indie-pop and genre-defying songwriting to Malachy&rsquo;s fusion of clarsach with electronic, house and techno influences.This is a chance to experiment, create and find your own sound, alongside other young harpists in a relaxed and supportive environment. Both lever and pedal harpists are welcome. You don&rsquo;t need any experience with looping, improvisation or contemporary techniques &mdash; just bring your harp and a willingness to try something new!

Teenage Harp Weekend

Deirdre at the Sheiling of Deirdre &amp; Naoise Story, Song &amp; Landscape in Argyll Join us for a very special, intimate journey into the ancient story of Deirdre and Naoise, set within the landscape around Loch Etive. On Saturday 12 September, a small group of just 26 people will walk together to the Sheiling of Deirdre and Naoise on Beinn Ghlas. We will make the journey together, following a 5km uphill route through the landscape. Along the way, we&rsquo;ll pause to hear the ancient tale of Deirdre and Naoise: of love, exile, prophecy and loss, and of the traces the story has left behind in the Gaelic place names and traditions of Loch Etive and Argyll. The ascent will take around 1 hour 20 minutes, including our storytelling stops.At the Sheiling, with the hills and loch around us, Ailie Robertson (clarsach) and Karen Matheson (Gaelic song) will perform an intimate 20-minute set of traditional and newly composed music inspired by Deirdre&rsquo;s story. Afterwards, there is no rush. Stay awhile at the Sheiling, take in the landscape, and make your own way back down when you are ready. This will be a small and very special gathering: part walk, part storytelling, part performance &mdash; experiencing an ancient tale in the landscape that still carries its memory. Saturday 12 September 1pm start Reserve weather date: Sunday 13 September Limited to 26 places Tickets are Pay What You Can, with all proceeds supporting clarsach tuition at Taynuilt Primary School. Please note: this is a sustained uphill walk over approximately 5km, so suitable footwear and a reasonable level of fitness are required.

Our next Deafinitely Musical Session on Sep 19th at <a fr-original-style="text-align: inherit;" href="https://www.facebook.com/LanarkshireDeafHub?__tn__=-]K*F" id="isPasted" style="text-align: inherit; text-decoration-color: currentcolor; user-select: auto; box-sizing: inherit;" target="_blank">Lanarkshire Deaf Hub</a> and we&#39;re excited to have Ruby Whittaker and Mary Bell leading the sessions. In our sessions, we use British Sign Language (British Sign Language) alongside songs and musical instruments to ensure every child can fully join in, regardless of their hearing level. The sessions are totally FREE, but please book your space.&nbsp;
