Join us for a new community workshop exploring homelessness, substance use, stigma and safety — and the stories and circumstances we don’t always see behind what is happening in our communities.No previous knowledge or experience required.Through stories, discussion, reflection and practical learning, we’ll explore some of the pathways that can shape homelessness and substance use, look at common assumptions and stigma, and consider the difference between discomfort and danger when we encounter situations in our communities.This session is a community pilot, and participants will have an opportunity to share feedback and help us strengthen the workshop as we prepare to offer it more broadly.Come with your questions, experiences and perspectives. This is a space to learn, reflect and have conversations about issues many of us encounter in our communities.All registration options are open to the public. Ready to Respond - Youth is a practical, interactive opioid poisoning awareness and response workshop designed specifically for youth in Grades 9–12.This free pilot session gives young people the opportunity to build knowledge, confidence, and practical skills for recognizing and responding to a suspected opioid poisoning.Through discussion, guided learning, and hands-on practice, participants will explore:🧠 The toxic drug supply — understanding the realities of substance use and opioid poisoning in our communities💙 Recognizing an opioid poisoning — learning the signs and knowing when to act👐 Responding safely — learning what to do in an emergency and how to use naloxone🤝 Community care — exploring how we can look out for one another and respond with compassion rather than judgmentYou never know when you might be in a position to help. You don’t have to use drugs to be affected by an opioid poisoning. You may encounter someone who needs help at home, at a gathering, with a friend, or somewhere in your community. Knowing how to recognize an opioid poisoning and respond can help you act when it matters.No previous experience is required.This is our first Ready to Respond Youth pilot session, and participant feedback will be an important part of developing the program.
