Golden Gap Foundation

Golden Gap Foundation provides short-term financial assistance to low-income seniors and veterans, helping them access necessary long-term care benefits during approval delays. Their mission is to ensure no one remains in unsafe conditions due to financial barriers.

THE GOLDEN GAP THROWDOWN IS ON! 🌶️🏆 Join us for an afternoon of Family Feud, great chili, friendly competition, and real impact for Utah seniors. The Golden Gap Foundation helps low-income seniors and veterans bridge the financial gap to assisted living while they work toward long-term assistance through programs such as Utah’s New Choices Waiver and VA benefits. This Throwdown has a very real purpose. Our newest Golden Gap Grant recipient now has a safe place to call home—but we still need your help. We’re raising funds toward his 12 months of assisted living while he works toward qualifying for Utah’s New Choices Waiver. We’re also collecting a few items to help make his new place feel like home, including a TV, laundry basket, digital clock, Keurig & K-Cups, dresser, recliner and a small table. Every team entry, bowl of chili, and donation gets us closer to fully funding his grant—and helps the Golden Gap Foundation continue opening doors for Utah seniors who otherwise may not be able to afford the care they need. 🌶️ 4-Person Family Feud Team — $40 🥣 Chili Lunch — $5 🏆 Chili Cook-Off + Prizes & Bragging Rights Come to compete. Come for the chili. Come to make a difference. BRING YOUR TEAM. BRING YOUR APPETITE. BRING THE COMPETITION.

Edward Is Home. Help Us Keep Him There. Not long ago, Edward didn't know where he was going to live. Then he moved into assisted living. That's a pretty incredible change in a very short amount of time, and it happened because several people and organizations came together and refused to let a financial gap be the reason Edward ended up homeless again. Edward has been through a lot. A stroke and a traumatic brain injury changed a lot for him. He now needs help with everyday activities and has difficulty with balance and mobility, and he was also recovering from a recent fall. He had also experienced homelessness and lost nearly everything he owned to theft while staying at a shelter. By the time we met Edward, he was staying temporarily in a friend's trailer. He was grateful to have a roof over his head, but it wasn't a safe or accessible place for him. Everyday tasks like bathing, preparing meals, and getting through the day were becoming increasingly difficult. And there was no real plan for what came next. What Edward needed wasn't another temporary place to stay. He needed the right place to live. We found it. Working with his case management team and an assisted living community willing to work with his limited income, we were able to put together a plan. Edward's disability income covers most of his housing and care, but he is still $300 short each month. The Golden Gap Foundation made the decision to step in and cover that difference for the next 12 months. We said yes to Edward before we had all $3,600 raised. Because sometimes you can't wait. Edward is now settled into his new home — sleeping somewhere designed to meet his needs, with regular meals, a safe place to shower, help when he needs it, and the security of knowing where he'll wake up tomorrow. Now we're asking you to help us keep the promise we made to him. Our first goal is to raise $3,600 to cover Edward's $300 monthly gap for the next year. So far, we've raised $700 toward that $3,600 goal — help us close the gap. A $25 or $50 gift gets us closer. $100 covers one-third of a month. $300 gives Edward a full month. And $3,600 fulfills our entire commitment to him. But we also know Edward won't be the last person who needs this kind of help. There will be another senior living somewhere that is no longer safe. Another person whose income almost covers assisted living—but not quite. Another call where a relatively small financial gap stands between someone and the care they need. We want to be able to say yes again. So if we raise more than Edward's $3,600, those donations will stay with the Golden Gap Foundation to help us prepare for the next senior who needs a bridge to safety. Edward's story could have ended very differently. Instead, he went home. Please help us keep him there—and help make sure that when the next Edward comes along, the Golden Gap Foundation is ready to say yes. Donate today and help us close the gap.
