Valentine's Upcycled Book Painting

Amanda Haymans of Unwind Art in Accident, MD will be joining us at Laurel Arts to share another one of her many talents. She will be teaching Watercolor for Beginners. If you have always wanted to give it a try, this is a great introduction to the art. Students will learn color mixing, watercolor application, salt, alcohol, crayon resist, and erasing. Participants will also learn gradients. Intro to Watercolors

Ugly Sweater Charcuterie Workshop

Hand Knit Chunky Christmas Tree Making

We are excited to have Amanda Haymans of Unwind Art in Grantsville, MD join us at Laurel Arts for a Winter themed Zentangle drawing workshop! The Zentangle&trade; Method is an easy-to-learn, relaxing, and fun way to create beautiful images by drawing structured patterns. Almost anyone can use it to create beautiful images. It increases focus and creativity, provides artistic satisfaction along with an increased sense of personal well-being. Presented by a Certified Zentangle&trade; Teacher (CZT)&trade;, this 90-minute class will provide a beginner with a background in the history of Zentangle&trade;, introduce them to the basics steps of the method, and expose them to associated vocabulary and tools used. This art form is a dry felting technique that uses a barbed needle to repeatedly poke and tangle wool fibers together, shaping them into a solid form. Spring Needle Felting Workshop

Join Instructor Marsha Schmuck and her daughter Isabelle to learn more about the growing fad of Junk Journaling. A Junk Journal is a &quot;book which is often made through found and recycled materials to be used as a way to collect and record memories, thoughts, ideas, and inspiration&quot;. Workshop information:Get ready for a unique print making experience!&quot;Hi! I&rsquo;m Casey, a local artist passionate about creating handmade art. I&rsquo;m a former biologist turned artist and the owner of Samaran Selkie, my small art business dedicated to exploring the beauty of nature through creative expression. My work is inspired by my deep love for the natural world, and I enjoy sharing that passion through painting, printmaking, clay creations, and jewelry making. I have showcased my artwork at several local galleries including Laurel Arts, Bottle Works, and had my own solo art show at Composition Art and Wine. I&rsquo;m excited to welcome you to this workshop and help you create your own printable design!&rdquo; What to Expect: Join me for a fun and creative workshop where you&#39;ll design and carve your very own linoleum block! I&rsquo;ll provide the block, carving tools, and everything necessary to print your hand carved design. You can follow along with my guided demonstration or create your own unique artwork. When our session is complete, you will have your very own personalized block (or stamp) for printing that you can use again and again at home: all you will need is an ink pad or printmaking ink, and some paper or clothing that you&#39;d like to adorn with your stamp!

Easter Gnome Bunny Painting with Acrylics

Join Instructor Marsha Schmuck for an afternoon of spring crafting. Students will learn the process of pressing flowers. &nbsp;They will then choose, arrange, and attach their flowers with modge podge to a clear, hanging glass window.

Pressed Flower Frames

Instructor Melanie Sarver will walk students through how to make this adorable charcuterie board just in time for Easter entertaining. The board is both festive and delicious and something your guests will be impressed you made. Students will use a variety of cheeses, meats, fruits, and crackers. Participants will also learn to make meat roses.

Easter Bunny Charcuterie Class

Pysanky is a traditional craft originally done in Ukraine and Poland. Join instructor, Alicia Shussett, as she helps you to create one of these beautiful eggs. Students will learn to add patterns using the traditional method involving wax and various colors of dye. This class is just in time to decorate or to make a gift for someone special for Easter. The instructor will add a special protectant to the eggs after the class. They will be ready for pick up on Tuesday, March 31.&nbsp;The class takes place at 601 Georgian Place, Somerset on Saturday, March 28 at 2pm to 4pm. The fee is $45 non-members/$36 members payable to Laurel Arts plus a $10 materials fee.&nbsp; Preregistration is required. Our payment policy requires students to pay 50% of the total tuition and materials upon registration. This is non-refundable. Pysanky Egg Workshop

April showers bring May Flowers. This month&#39;s painting with be a combination of both! Students will paint a parasol with flowers on a piece of slate. Participants will get to add dried flowers to their finished project. Spring Parasol Painting on Slate

A Sunday afternoon in Spring is the perfect time to join instructor Kathy Donnelly and learn her specialty art. You may have seen her and her pieces at Mountain Craft Days each year. Kathy will walk students through creating their own unique watercolor vase. She will then show participants how to add tiny dried flowers to the vase while sharing tips own how to press and preserve them in vibrant colors.&nbsp;
