About this foundation

Newman’s Own Foundation’s mission is “TO NOURISH AND TRANSFORM THE LIVES OF CHILDREN WHO FACE ADVERSITY.” The Foundation owns the food company, and its grant dollars come from the profits and royalties of the sale of Newman’s Own products. The site states it has given away more than $600M to good causes since 1982. The foundation says it takes a portfolio approach, investing in a diverse group of nonprofits and working with partners and co-funders. It runs open grant programs (for example the Indigenous Tomorrows Fund) and partners on prize processes such as the 2025 Prizes for Innovation.
