About this foundation

Founded in 2003 by Cindy and Paul Skjodt, the Samerian Foundation is the philanthropic vehicle of the Skjodt family and is named for their children. The foundation seeks to enhance quality of life by providing funds through a grantmaking process for education, economic development, health, youth sports, community organizations serving the underserved, and humanitarian projects. The foundation states it is primarily committed to Central Indiana while occasionally supporting national and international projects. The site reports that to date the Foundation has granted 2,105 requests totaling nearly $93.4 million. The board meets quarterly to review requests and the family manages the foundation; staff include a Grants Administrator, Tammy Owen.
