About this foundation

The Lewis Prize for Music was a five-year, $20 million philanthropic initiative (2019–2024) that invested across the United States and its territories to support Creative Youth Development (CYD) music programs. It was co-founded by philanthropist Daniel R. Lewis and led by CEO Dalouge Smith, and awarded Accelerator, Infusion, and Semifinalist grants to CYD organizations. Interlochen Center for the Arts is named as manager of the Lewis Prize archive and website. The Prize emphasized equity, youth voice, and collective action, and supported awardees via grants, research, and convenings. The initiative concluded on December 31, 2024 and the site states there will be no future Lewis Prize funding cycles.
