Eligibility
  • Must be a public charity or private foundation that qualifies as a 501(c)(3) or hold nonprofit status similar to 501(c)(3)
  • Schools, hospitals, governmental units, or religious institutions with nonprofit status similar to 501(c)(3) are eligible
  • State or local government eligible only if donation is made exclusively for public purposes
  • War-veterans organizations must qualify as a 501(c)(19)
  • volunteer fire departments must qualify as a 501(c)(4)
