Just Because grants are non-application, unrestricted awards that highlight nonprofit organizations working to meet needs throughout Spartanburg County; recipients are selected by the Foundation based on work, location, and need.

Just Because Grants

A grant awarded from offerings collected at the Community Thanksgiving service; Foundation matches the offering (up to $5,000) and the selected local nonprofit is invited to share its mission and impact.

Organizations must provide services in one of the following areas: Family Services; Food, Hunger & Shelter; Health Services; Youth Services | Grant requests should support direct services benefiting Spartanburg County residents | Must be a nonprofit/tax-exempt organization

Community Thanksgiving Grant

THE FOUNDATION PROVIDES SMALL GRANTS ($250-$2000) TO NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATIONS AND IN SOME CASES, INDIVIDUALS DEMONSTRATING NEED TO IMPROVE FUTURE OUTCOMES.

Letter of inquiry (LOI) required | Applicant resume required | Proposed budget for expenditure of potential grant funds required | Documentary proof of non-profit IRS tax-exempt status (if applicable) | Non-profit prior year and current year-to-date balance sheet and income statement (if applicable) | Must be a qualifying distribution recipient per IRS 501(c)(3) and exempt under 509(a)(1) or 509(a)(2) (for organizational applicants)

Small Grants Program

Invests in initiatives that expand access to high-quality financial education (especially for youth and young adults) and build educator capacity; supports creative approaches to advancing financial literacy.

Must be a charitable organization with a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status provided by the IRS | Must comply with The Charles Schwab Corporation's nondiscrimination policy | Not eligible: Individuals | Not eligible: Private foundations | Not eligible: Individual pre-K–12 schools or school-related activities at individual schools | Not eligible: Booster clubs, bands, or athletic teams/leagues | Not eligible: Organizations that are political in nature | Not eligible: Private clubs and fraternal or social organizations

Schwab Moneywise Momentum Grants

Organizations invited by a member of the Seabury Family may apply for up to $25,000 in general operating or project/program support.

Must be a 501(c)(3) organization invited by a Seabury Family sponsor | Organizations with annual operating expenses in excess of $2.5 million may only apply for project/program support | No funding for religious activities, political campaigns, or legislative lobbying

Family Grants

Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque is a community foundation serving Eastern Iowa that lists multiple grant programs for nonprofit organizations on a central Grants hub; applications are handled via a GOapply portal and by contacting the grants manager.

Must be located in a community within 40 miles of any Theisen's store | Must be a nonprofit organization

EducationUSA Malaysia 2026-2027

Single, foundation-wide grant application submitted via a Google Form; applicants must upload Exhibits 1–6 (board roster, IRS tax-exemption letter, project description, mission/history, itemized budget, audited financials). Approval/denial notices sent first week of October.

Must provide IRS tax-exemption letter (Exhibit 2) | Must provide board of directors roster (Exhibit 1) | Must upload audited year-end balance sheet and profit & loss report (Exhibit 6) | Organizations that have received a grant 3 years in a row must take a 1-year break
