STELLA AND CHARLES GUTTMAN FOUNDATION
About this foundation
The Stella and Charles Guttman Foundation, Inc. was established in 1959 and has historically supported programs to improve and expand educational opportunities and the delivery of health and social services for children, youth and families. Since 2014 the Foundation directed substantial grantmaking to programs serving low-income infants, toddlers and preschoolers as they transition to kindergarten, emphasizing quality, service expansion and a continuum of care for ages 0–3. The Foundation prioritizes place-based work in high-poverty neighborhoods, especially those with a large concentration of public housing, and focuses grants on organizations providing services in New York City. The Board meets periodically to review proposals and the Foundation requests an initial letter of inquiry as the first step.
