About this foundation

The Sociological Initiatives Foundation supports social change by linking research to social action. It funds research projects that investigate laws, policies, institutions, regulations, and normative practices that limit equality in the U.S., with priority on racism, xenophobia, classism, gender bias, exploitation, and human rights. The Foundation also supports research on language learning, literacy, and their intersections with social and policy questions. Grant sizes normally range from $15,000 to $30,000 and the geographic focus is limited to the United States. The Foundation favors community-based academic partnerships and projects with an explicit research design and concrete public or community impact.
